Consultant will be contracted to develop and implement Armenian Wellness Festival targeting Armenian community members. This will be a whole day festival and will include 8 mental health seminars, and at least 8 wellness activities such as cooking classes for cultural food, Live Armenian Cultural music, entertainment, dance, Armenian poetry & yoga classes, and art therapy classes. There will be a total of 8 different mental health topics presented and at least 8 wellness activities presented. The seminars & wellness activities will be available sequentially in the morning, afternoon, and late afternoon to give attendees the chance to participate in more than one seminar and wellness activity. Each seminar will include a different mental health topic that is of interest to the Armenian Community members, (i.e. parenting, depression & anxiety, intergenerational trauma from the Armenian Genocide, etc.) Armenian cultural food & refreshments, such as Armenian Coffee, will be served free of charge for the entirety of the event. The Armenian Wellness Festival will be in a prime location within the Armenian community to promote wellness (i.e. Glendale, CA.) Stress management information and resources will also be available throughout the day. There will also be tables for resources from DMH & its contracted/legal entities that provide services to the Armenian Community. As part of this project, the Consultant will recruit licensed mental health professionals to conduct the seminars and provide mental health linkage and referral information pertaining to the services offered at Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. This project hopes to engage the Armenian Community, and familiarize them with wellness & mental health techniques, and at the same time reduce stigma and encourage the community to seek mental health services.
