Specifications include, but are not limited to: Standardized Visitor Screening Process Visitors will be greeted and asked to empty their pockets of items prior to passing through the magnetometer by the Security Officer. Visitors will be asked by the Security Officer to put all hand-carried items including, but not limited to purses, briefcases, and backpacks on the table and a visual search of the contents will be conducted by the Security Officer. If the magnetometer alarm sounds, they will be asked to re-enter the magnetometer or screened by the Security Officer with a handheld screening device. Items that are not permissible by law, see code sections below. will be returned by the owner of the property to the visitor’s vehicle, or held by the Security Officer, at the discretion of the on-duty officer. Upon successful screening of the visitor, the Security Officer will provide entrance by utilizing the access card to release the lock on the electronic door. The Security Officer will keep his or her security access card in a secure, but not visible location at all times. The Security Officer will immediately report a broken, lost, or stolen access card to the Placer County Department of Child Support Services (PLDCSS) reception staff and/or management and a replacement card will be provided. In the event that the access card fails to release the door lock due to malfunction, or if the access card has been lost or stolen and a replacement card has not yet been assigned, the Security Officer may notify reception staff to release the door lock, and then proceed to the doorway to make eye contact with the PLDCSS reception staff. Visitors that require entry into the suite will be logged into the Visitor’s Log and given a Visitor Badge to be worn at all times while in the suite. The Security Guard will collect the Visitor Badge upon exiting the suite. People with Disabilities The Security Officer will ensure that persons with disabilities are thoroughly screened while being sensitive to each person’s condition. Visitors entering the security station who cannot walk through the magnetometer will be screened with a hand held metal detector; and hand carried items will be screened using standard operating procedures. Service animals will be visually inspected.Children Visitors with children will be given the option of allowing each child to walk through the magnetometer independently or to be carried through by their caretaker, after the caretaker has been screened.
