Specifications include, but are not limited to: • District is in need of Afterschool Program Consultants for grades: 1-8 (approximately 6,000 students). The program objective is to provide students with the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on activities and experiments. • All first through eighth grade students participating in BCSD Afterschool STEAM Academies will have the choice to participate in an Afterschool Program Consultant class on their campus if it interests them. • Consultants must be equipped to work with 20 students. • Consultants must bring their own equipment and materials. • Once awarded, the consultant will be responsible for reaching out to the site coordinator on each campus to set up time for services. • Consultants will be responsible for signing in and out at the identified school site. • District is seeking 45-50 min lessons that will be completed one day each week. • The table below identifies the sought after consultants. It is organized by school and the consultant service(s) requested for that school. • Services are organized by: Sept-Dec 2024; Jan-May 2025; Consultants for Thorner (all year); Consultants for Mt. Vernon (all year) • Include language for school sites to be able to contract with consultants for noon time or afterschool enrichment opportunities. • Pottery o Consultant will teach pottery to students in the afterschool academies that involves nurturing their creativity and fine motor skills while allowing them to explore the tactile joys of shaping clay into unique, personalized creations. o Consultant must bring potters wheels for students to use. o Consultant must take art work off site to fire. o Consultant will provide all materials. • Dance o Consultant will teach dance to students, guiding them through physical techniques and expressive movements while fostering discipline, confidence, and a deep appreciation for the art of dance. o Consultant will not use explicit music. o Consultant understands that dance class may take in a variety of locations such as the classroom, multipurpose room, outside playground, hallway, etc. o Consultant will provide their own speaker/sound system during practice • Art o Consultant will teach kids art while encouraging their imagination and creativity and help them develop essential skills and an appreciation for various artistic techniques and mediums. o The consultant will provide all materials • Chess o Consultant will teach kids how chess cultivates their strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities while instilling patience, concentration, and a love for the game. o Consultant will provide chess boards and pieces for up to 20 students at one time • Magic o Consultant will provide students instruction on the technical skills of illusion and sleight of hand while also fostering a sense of wonder and creativity in the art of captivating an audience. o Consultant will work with up to 20 students • Author o An author will read their books to students, bringing the stories to life and inspiring a love for reading and storytelling. o Author will include the cost of a book for each of the students at the school (approximately 120 at each elementary school; 300 at Thorner and 150 at Mt. Vernon) o Author will visit each school site only once • Yoga o Consultant will provide yoga services to students to help enhance their physical well-being, mental focus, and emotional balance through mindful movement and breathing exercises. o Consultant will provide materials for up to 20 students • Photography o Consultant will teach photography to students by guiding them through the technical aspects of using a camera, the principles of composition and lighting, and encouraging them to express their unique perspectives through the lens. o Consultant will bring materials for up to 20 students o Consultant will develop photos for student • Movie Making o Consultant will take students through the movie making process, beginning with writing a movie and guiding them through the process of developing compelling characters, crafting engaging plots, and structuring narratives that captivate audiences, fostering their creativity and storytelling skills. o Consultant will teach students how to make movies on an ipad, instructing them on using the device’s camera, leveraging editing apps, and applying filmmaking techniques to create engaging and professional-quality films. o Consultant may use academy devices for movie making. • Music Engineering o Consultant will provide students with instruction about music engineering that involves educating them on the technical aspects of recording, mixing, and mastering music, as well as exploring the creative process of producing and manipulating sound to achieve desired artistic effects. o Consultant will be responsible for supplying their own equipment for class • Drama/Theater o Consultant will instruct students in acting techniques, stage presence, script analysis, theatrical production, fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence on stage. o Consultant will produce a small production with each school that they work with. o Consultant will provide their own scripts
