This project will repair and upgrade the existing cathodic protection system for the AK Warren Water Resource Facility’s72-, 90-, and 120-inch effluent outfalls. Cast iron pipe joints and manhole covers on the existing ocean outfalls are subject to corrosion in the marine environment. This work requires divers and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to replace the mechanical attachment anode system with newer technology that uses commercial-grade magnets to prevent detachment of the anode wiring. The anode system is designed to provide 50+years of corrosion protection to extend the useful life of the outfalls. Theconsultant, Parsons Water &Infrastructure Inc., provided engineering design services for this project.
