Specifications include, but are not limited to: Qualified contractor to provide abandoned debris and Christmas tree collection services throughout the City of Glendale. The selected contractor will: • Retrieve material in City’s right-of-way including parkways, streets, sidewalks and alleys. City assigned routes for a portion of the City will be required for specific days of the week. Debris-prone dumping areas or hotspots will be the required focus areas. • Divert a minimum of 25% of all materials collected as defined by CalRecycle. For waste measurement purposes, diversion is any combination of waste prevention (source reduction), recycling, reuse and composting activities that reduces waste disposed at CalRecycle-permitted landfills and transformation facilities. Diversion shall include collection and/or separation methods that maximize diversion. • Collect Christmas trees annually from January 2-February 16. In previous years, the City collected 8,000 trees during this time. The contractor must screen material from loads such as lights, tree skirts, ornaments, and other nonrecyclable material to ensure that Christmas trees are diverted. The City reserves the right to decrease or increase this amount dependent upon need.
