BACKGROUND: Fire Station 059 has numerous occasions of roof leaks and repairs, most notably in the Dayroom area. Roof is in dire need of replacement. SCOPE/OBJECTIVES: Remove and dispose of the old flat roof system and install new John Mansville 60 mil single ply, or equivalent 60 mil roofing systems, such as GAF or Mule-Hide, or can use 60 mil EPDM. Installation will be according to manufacturer’s specification. A. The contractor shall provide all parts, equipment, and labor necessary to install John Mansville 60 mil single ply TPO mechanically fastened roofing system. B. All work shall comply with the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Specifications and all applicable codes and regulations. The Contractor is also responsible to ensure that all sub-contractors have also read the Scope of work and LACoFD Specifications. C. The contractor will be required to strip and dispose the existing comp roofing material and drip metal edge. D. High Importance: Safety for persons and property must be a priority. Barricades shall be used to cordon off worksite from inadvertent entry. E. This project is subject to Prevailing Wages and Contractors are to be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). Prevailing wage for this project can be found at www.dir.ca.gov and it will have a DIR assigned #. F. Contractor will secure roofing permit from the City of Whittier. G. Contractor to provide portable restroom and wash facility for all workers. H. Work to be performed during normal business hours. (Mon - Fri) 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
