Sources Sought (Special Notice)
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing 2 eDNA auto sampling platforms as described in the attached salient characteristics. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and associated size standard 1000 employees apply to this announcement.
All responsible sources may submit a brochure and/or technical specifications detailing the ability of their product to meet the salient characteristics included with this announcement.
Responses to this announcement shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to aberry@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 06/20/2025 by 0500 PD Responses submitted by hard copy shall not be accepted or considered.
The eDNA Auto sampling platforms must meet or exceed the minimum salient characteristics specified below:
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
Small: 10 cm diameter, 60 cm long
Light: 5kg
Fast: filtration flow rates > 5 L/min possible
Rechargeable battery
Filters and preserves six or more filter samples independently
Exchanging/interchangeable sampling module so that new filters and preservative can be easily and quickly deployed to extend the sampling mission for an additional six or more filtered and preserved samples
Must be able hold a wide array of filter types, including 47-mm diameter filters
Sample metadata (GPS location, temperature, etc) are independently recorded and logged with each sample.
Can be sterilized via bleach or autoclave
