Specifications include, but are not limited to: A Consultant will be contracted to develop and implement the Sharing Our Stories Book Project: Immigrant Journey’s Towards Mental and Emotional Wellbeing for the Russian and Farsi speaking Communities. This project will target the Russian and Farsi speaking communities of Los Angeles County at large. It aims to create two coffee table books, one for Russian and another for Farsi speaking communities. The books will consist of short stories gathered from 15 to 20 Russian and Farsi speaking immigrants where each person in the community gets the opportunity to share their story of a mental health, emotional, social challenges, and/or crisis that they experienced as an immigrant in United States. Alongside the individual stories, there will also be editorials that will share educational information about mental health issues and available resources. The purpose of the project is to decrease stigmas around mental health within these immigrant communities by allowing people to share their stories and normalize the mental health struggles that many Russian and Farsi speaking immigrants face every year. The personal stories will also be an engaging lead-in to providing mental health education and linkage to resources for community members. The project will promote mental health services, and decrease stigmas associated with mental health in a compelling and engaging manner. It also provides psychoeducation around mental and emotional challenges that Russian and Farsi speaking immigrants face, and offers awareness around mental health resources that LACDMH offers to these communities
