Emmet County joins the MITN Purchasing Group for Automated Distribution

Today, Emmet County has officially joined the MITN Purchasing Group to help simplify their bid and RFP distribution process. The MITN Purchasing Group is one of BidNet’s 30 regional purchasing groups throughout the country which offers participating local government agencies an e-procurement solution. Emmet County invites all vendors to register online with the MITN Purchasing Group to access its upcoming solicitations by visting www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn.

With the MITN Purchasing Group, vendors register to access one centralized location with opportunities from nearly 200 participating agencies throughout Michigan. By posting upcoming solicitations to the MITN Purchasing Group rather than their website, Emmet County hopes to make it easier for more vendors to access their documents. They also hope to expand the reach of their solicitations to a more diverse vendor pool. Unlike their prior process of only publishing bids to a webpage, the MITN Purchasing Group provides a method to track all bid activity, including the details of vendors who have received or downloaded a bid.

“Sometimes distributing a bid on our site just isn’t enough,” says Angela Carney, Purchasing Director, of Emmet County. “Posting the bid for an entire regional community of vendors to see will help us reach more variety of qualified local suppliers. We like that with the MITN Purchasing Group we can quantifiably track the level of diversity.”

Emmet County invites all local vendors to visit www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn and register to receive access to its upcoming solicitations as well as the upcoming bids and RFPs from 190 other public agencies participating on the MITN Purchasing Group. Registered vendors also gain access to a team of experienced customer service support representatives and can upgrade their service to receive customized bid alerts, advanced notice of term contract expiration, and notification of a recently posted addendum.

About Emmet County:

Emmet County is at the top of the Michigan mitten. Its northern tip bumps into the Straits of Mackinac and Lake Michigan outlines its western boundary. At first, Ottawa Indians occupied the lake shore rim. Beyond the water’s edge there were only the forest, the lakes, the streams, and some swamps dismal enough to discourage a traveling bear. Its strategic location on the Great Lakes waterways, however, marked it for early discovery by white men and the point of control for the whole upper Great Lakes territory. By the time Michigan became a state, well over one hundred years of fur trading; European-Indian wars and empire-building history were already behind it.
