The City of Cañon City joins the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System

The City of Cañon City announced it has joined the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System and will be publishing and distributing upcoming bid opportunities on the system. BidNet Direct’s Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System connects 249 participating agencies from across Colorado and Wyoming. The purchasing group provides vendors one online location to access bids from participating agencies throughout the state.

The City of Cañon City will utilize the purchasing group to streamline the purchasing process including bid management, bid distribution and vendor relations. The Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System is used to manage sourcing information and activities and provides 249 Colorado and Wyoming local government agencies the tools needed to have a streamlined bid process while collaborating with other local procurement professionals and registered vendors.

The Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System expands an agency’s vendor pool and enhances vendor competition without increasing distribution costs. In addition to the existing vendors on the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System, all vendors looking to do business with the City of Cañon City can register online: www.bidnetdirect.com/colorado. The City of Cañon City invites all interested bidders to register today.

Registered vendors can access all participating agency open bids, related documents and files, additional addendum and award information. In addition, the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System offers a value-added service to notify vendors of new bids targeted to their industry, all addenda and advance notification of expiring term contracts.

“We are excited about becoming a part of the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System. We look forward to the community feel of the purchasing group, the shared vendor database to increase competition and the local bid library. Our vendors will now have access to not only our open bids, but hundreds of others from across the state,” stated Tammy Nordyke, Finance Director for the City of Cañon City.

Vendors may register on the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System: www.bidnetdirect.com/colorado. BidNet’s vendor support team is available to answer any questions regarding the registration process or the bid system at 800-835-4603 option 2.

Other local Colorado and Wyoming government agencies looking to switch from a manual bid process, please contact the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System for a demonstration of the no-cost sourcing solution.

About the City of Cañon City:

The City is located in a mountain bowl along the Arkansas River valley as it flows east from the Rocky Mountains and the mouth of the Royal Gorge. A combination of unique geography and an elevation of 5300 feet above sea level protects the city from harsh weather conditions, making Cañon City “the Climate Capital of Colorado,” with temperatures generally 10 degrees warmer in Winter than other nearby Colorado communities.

The Royal Gorge Bridge, owned by the City, is one of the major attractions located near Cañon City. This, along with other nearby natural attractions such as the Arkansas River, the Pike-San Isabel National Forest, and the beauty of the surrounding land, draws numerous tourists to the area year round with a peak during the summer season.
