Specifications include, but are not limited to: Three-year Model Demonstration Project (MDP) serving high school students with disabilities in Washington County, AR. Respondents shall demonstrate the capacity to plan, develop, and implement a vocational training program utilizing the regular Project SEARCH® model for young adults with developmental disabilities in Washington County, Arkansas. Project SEARCH® founded in 1996 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, is a copyrighted and trademarked workplace and work readiness training that takes place in an existing, integrated business setting that result in quality competitive employment outcomes. The focus of Project SEARCH® is on serving young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (at least 75% of the class must fall into this category or is eligible for Intellectual and Disabilities Services (DDS). Total immersion of interns and employees at the host business site is required. a) the program teaches: competitive, marketable, transferrable skills; b) the interns are not doing the work of volunteers; c) the interns participate in the three 10-week internships 20-25 hours per week; d) additional skills are added as more basic skills are mastered, so that the interns acquire cascading skills; e) at least one hour a day is dedicated to an employability skills curriculum.
