The City of Hot Springs, in partnership with the Hot Springs Arts Accessory Committee, is seeking Statements of Qualifications and Performance Data from experienced artists or artist teams for a temporary, light-based public art installation. The selected artist(s) will create a site-responsive, illuminated artwork designed to enhance the nighttime experience for residents and visitors. This opportunity is open to professional artists or artist-led teams working in light art, projection, digital media, interactive art, or related fields. Local, regional, national, and international applicants are welcome. Artists must demonstrate the ability to deliver a project that meets the City of Hot Springs' operational, safety, and permitting requirements. The selected artist(s) will be expected to deliver the following scope of work to be consider: Creating a concept that is responsive to the surrounding urban and natural landscape. Coordinating with the City of Hot Springs staff and project partners regarding site access, utilities, and safety. Providing all necessary drawings, lighting plans, engineering (if required), and technical specifications. Fabrication, transportation, installation, and on-site assembly. Compliance with city codes and permitting processes. Preparing a maintenance and operations plan for staff. Deinstallation and full site restoration at the project’s conclusion. The City seeks an installation that will: Celebrate the character, history, and future of Hot Springs Create a visually striking nighttime landmark that is easily visible from multiple approaches. Provide a safe, inviting public experience. Support the City’s long-term vision for arts-driven placemaking and community engagement. Demonstrate innovative use of light, technology, and/or interactive elements. Be feasible, durable, and maintainable throughout the installation period. The City and partners have budgeted up to $10,000 for this project. This budget is inclusive of all costs, including: Artist fees Design development and engineering Materials, equipment, and fabrication Lighting and electrical components Transport, installation, and deinstallation Insurance and permits Travel and lodging (if applicable) Final budget negotiations will occur following the selection of the artist/team
