Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor is responsible for reviewing the project locations prior to bidding to be aware of site conditions. The City of Little Rock estimates there will be around 4 to 6 mowing cycles per year and the contractor may be required to mow and trim some individual locations or medians more frequently than other locations. The contract price of the project will be based on six (6) mowing cycles. ; Equipment: The Contractor shall ensure the equipment used on this contract is in good working condition and is suitable and safe for mowing the rights-of-way and medians required under this contract. Any equipment determined by Public Works to be a hazard to vehicles, pedestrians or unsuitable for operation in the public right of way shall not be used. Sufficient equipment and accessory items for efficient operation and completion of the cycle in the designated time shall be provided by the contractor. ; Removal and Disposal of Litter and Debris: The right of way and median areas to be mowed shall be cleaned by the contractor prior to each mowing cycle for litter and for objects or debris that might be thrown by mowers. For the purpose of this contract; litter is defined as trash, garbage, debris, and refuse of the following type: Paper, plastic, bottles, cans, wood, tires, tire parts, metal products, etc. In addition, the Contractor shall pick up all litter that is uncovered by the mowing operation within 48 hours of mowing the location.; Mowing Procedures: The Contractor shall mow as close as practicable to all fixed objects and trim vegetation around all fixed objects to 3 to 4 inches height along public right of ways and to a 2 inch height on medians. Trimming shall be performed concurrently with the mowing operation. Trimming is required where grass has grown over the top of the curb and towards the gutter. Subsequent mowing cycles shall not be started without the Contractor having first obtained written approval to begin from Public Works Operations. A mowing cycle is considered complete when all mowing, hand trimming, and trash & litter cleanup is complete to the satisfaction of Public Works Operations.; The City of Little Rock recognizes the need for possible additional mowing cycles in certain high visibility areas such as medians. While some mowing cycles will include both the right of way and the medians some mowing cycles may only include medians or select street segments. The Contractor shall conduct his operations in such a manner that he does not damage existing trees, shrubs, guardrail, signs, utilities, delineators or other structures. The Contractor shall not mow during wet conditions where turf damage or rut damage would occur. In the event damage occurs to City’s right of ways or medians as a result of mowing operations, the Contractor shall replace or repair the damage at no cost to the City of Little Rock. Mowing and trimming shall be completed in such a manner that cuttings and debris are not ejected into the adjacent street. Mowing shall be performed only during daylight hours between 7am and 6pm Monday through Saturday. Failure to perform work according to these specifications may result in the termination of the mowing contract.
