Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.General: This specification is intended to cover a 4.5 cubic yards minimum struck capacity hydraulic driven chemicaland material spreader for use in AHTD dump trucks. The spreader shall also be equipped with a liquid calcium chloridespray system designed to operate on 12 volts DC.2.Type: Shall be designed for mounting in dump body with spinner at the rear and below floor of dump body. Thespreader shall be a self-contained unit with hopper type body, conveyor system, hydraulic drive, spinner and allnecessary components integrally mounted as single unit. Shall have the capacity to spread material to a maximumwidth of no less than 24'.3.Hopper Body: Hopper shall have a minimum struck capacity of 4.5 cubic yards. Shall be electrically weldedconstruction, adequately reinforced, with no less than 10 gauge high grade steel sides and ends. Sides to slopeapproximately 45 degrees to allow material to feed into conveyor by gravity. Bottom shall be constructed of no lessthan 7 gauge high grade steel.4.Top Screen: A top screen is not required.5.Conveyor: Shall have a minimum overall width of 24" and be designed to handle sand, cinders and de-icing chemicalsdischarging material to spinner at rear of spreader. Shall be equipped with spring loaded idler adjusters to maintainproper conveyor tension.6.Drive: Conveyor and spinner shall be driven by hydraulic motors. Drive to conveyor and spinner assembly to be asregularly furnished by manufacturer. Shall be designed to operate on an open center hydraulic system with a minimumoutput of 15 gpm at 1,500 psi. (Hydraulic pump will be furnished by AHTD).7.Reservoir: A 20 gallon minimum capacity hydraulic reservoir designed for frame mounting shall be provided. Reservoirshall have filler cap, screen and replaceable 10 micron return line filter. Reservoir suction line fitting shall be sized for noless than 1-1/4" ID suction hose
