Specifications include, but are not limited to: PreEmergent/Emergent American Studies 1-2 This one-period course is designed for non-English proficient students with an AZELLA overall proficiency level of Pre-Emergent/Emergent (PE/E). This course is an introduction to the history, government and geography of our local community, the state of Arizona and the United States. With the use of scaffolded supports, differentiated academic language development, collaborative discussions, reading and writing, students will develop disciplinary content knowledge, language and autonomy. The curriculum is aligned with the Arizona History and Social Science Standards and the Arizona English Language Proficiency Standards. Each semester students will earn one-half elective credit.
