Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Bisbee and Naco Heritage Alliance (NHA) is seeking SOQs from qualified professionals for exhibit design services to develop and initiate implementation of high-quality interpretive experiences to attract audiences to the Camp Naco site as a recognized destination in rural southeastern Arizona. The Camp Naco Interpretive Experience will leverage the evocative natural and cultural landscape of Camp Naco’s buildings and open spaces to create a sense of time and place through story-telling and rich immersive experiences. Camp Naco intends to become a binational destination for its unique significance and association with multiple layers of historical themes (natural systems, Indigenous lifeways, Buffalo Soldiers, Mexican Revolution, etc.) which, in turn, offer a foundation for the development of throughlines to contemporary themes (social justice, human migration, cultural reconciliation, resilience, borderlands culture, etc.). The Camp Naco Interpretive Experience should be inclusive of traditional, emerging and adaptive technologies for both on- and off-site engagement, including digital storytelling, augmented reality, audio-visual platforms, tactile exhibits, period re-creations, etc. The Camp Naco Interpretive Experience scope is divided into two overarching components, design vision and implementation. Design vision integrates content development, engagement strategies, architectural infrastructure requirements, multimedia elements, and graphic/visual identity standards to define an overarching vision for immersive and passive experiences at Camp Naco. This component will reflect the multiple layers of heritage that define Camp Naco’s rich natural and cultural landscape to provide a holistic and integrative master plan vision and to define the required construction infrastructure to support multiple implementation phases. The Implementation component includes fabrication and installation activities that, depending on costs and available funding, will be implemented over multiple phases, but will focus on the Buffalo Soldiers narrative as the initial priority and anchor exhibit/experience. Additional narratives will be implemented in phases as funding and content development provided by the client become available.
