Specifications include, but are not limited to: The city desires a two-tier storage architecture of all flash storage arrays with each tier having a presence in each of the city’s enterprise data centers. One data center is located in a City -owned facility in downtown Phoenix, while the second is located in leased data center space in the metropolitan Phoenix area. The data centers are connected over a redundant, geographically diverse private fiber network using Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), which supports 10 Gbps Ethernet and 8 Gbps Fibre Channel. The northern fiber optic path is 17 miles and the southern path is 8 miles. Storage Tier 1 will be used for applications that demand high-performance storage and for the storage of structured data, and to support most citywide and departmental applications and databases. Tier 1 storage shall support replication between data centers for business continuity. Storage Tier 2 will be a utility storage tier for unstructured data and will support other applications and services that do not require the higher performance of Tier 1 storage. Both storage tiers will have a presence in each data center.
