Specifications include, but are not limited to: All cracks and joints, including the space between asphalt concrete pavement and the curb and gutter, which have a clear opening of one-quarter inch (1/4’’) or greater, shall be sealed for the length of the crack. Contractor shall notify the City Representative when cracks are encountered that have an opening greater than one-and-one half inch (> 1 ½’’). The City Representative shall specify the treatment requirements for cracks having an average clear opening greater than one-and-one half inch (1 ½”). All edge cracks between asphalt and curb or gutter or valley gutters shall be filled regardless of clear opening. Techniques for vacuuming and sealing require wand tips to be placed into cracks for cleaning and material placement. Immediately prior to applying sealant, all cracks shall be cleaned of all non-compressible materials such as but not limited to: grass, grass roots, weeds, rocks, dirt, and trash to a clear depth of one (1) inch.
