Specifications include, but are not limited to: The deliverable for this project will include an environmental scan of Arizona to determine opportunities and challenges in conducting clinical research in the role of a contract research organization serving both internal and external customers. The scan will include a needs assessment of community physicians interested in conducting clinical research within their offices as well as other investigators and entrepreneurs aspiring to conduct clinical research both within and outside of the University. ASU anticipates an initial consulting project up to a year in length. • The final report should include an ASU CRO model supported by environmental scans and needs assessment for community-based clinical trials conducted in Arizona. Specific topics should include at least the following: o Potential customers, competitors, and partners o ASU’s current strengths that could be applied to clinical trials, areas which need strengthening, including new areas and expertise that are required to be successful o Key and significant opportunities o Key and significant threats including potential negative impacts to the reputation/image of ASU or on existing relationships, programs and projects at ASU. o A financial and legal risk analysis inclusive of business and research risks. o Specific infrastructure needs for initiation and growth of this program o Opportunities and timelines to become self-sustaining and to recover ASU’s investments in the program o Financial investment, resources, and timeline required to build needed capabilities.
