Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFD) will conduct a study of mountain lions across
Arizona from mid-September through spring to determine population size. This will be
accomplished by collaring mountain lions. Mountain lions will be captured using hounds or
foothold snares. The primary goal is to generate an estimate of statewide abundance for
mountain lions using age-at-harvest data collected from harvested mountain lions, survival rates
from GPS collared mountain lions, and hunter effort (number of licenses sold). Mountain lions'
health and home range sizes will also be assessed
