The Federal Correctional Institution, Safford, AZ intends to make a single award to a post-secondary institution,
vocational training or industry-based school that will be responsible for providing instruction in Fitness Trainer.
Successful completion of the training program must qualify inmates for at least entry-level employment in a
specified field upon release.
The contractor will normally teach 15-20 students up to 6 hour sessions per day, 5 days per week, excluding
Federal Holidays and Lockdowns. Work hours will normally be between 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-
minute unpaid lunch break, as mutually agreed between the contractor and the institution. The contractor shall
not normally exceed 30 hours per week. Curriculum will include First Aid and CPR, Nutrition, Anatomy,
Strength and Conditioning.
The contractor must meet the certification requirements for Fitness Trainer, Fitness or Personal Training and/or
Fitness or Personal Training Instructor. In addition to the experience in duties, the contractor must have at least
one year’s experience in a related field.
