The City has approximately 5,500 active employees, retirees, and COBRA’s covered under its fully insured vision care plans.
Currently the City contributes a fixed dollar amount to vision plan premiums. Employer contributions equate to approximately 90% of single premium for the Basic vision plan and 50% of family tier of the Basic vision plan coverage. The Plus and Premium Plus plans are “buy-up” coverage from the employee perspective, with employees responsible for any premium differential as compared to the Basic plan premiums. The City reserves the right to evaluate and change contribution strategies on an annual basis.
The City is seeking proposals to match the current level of benefits as a primary response. In addition, Offerors may submit plan/benefit enhancements that will provide a higher level of insured coverage (e.g. increased frequency or inclusion of covered services) and be beneficial to plan members.
