Due to the remote terrain and amount of distance between radio repeater towers in Navajo County, the Sheriff’s Office’s handheld 5-watt radios do not have the strength to reach existing repeater towers. Navajo County would like to purchase vehicle radio repeaters and components that allow users to communicate using existing 5-watt handheld radios out in the field. The handheld radio wave signals will be transmitted through the vehicle repeater. The repeater will be connected to the existing 50-watt radio inside the vehicle. The repeaters installed in NCSO vehicles will allow the 5-watt transmissions from users to transfer through the vehicle radio and broadcast as 50-watt transmissions to and from dispatch. 1.
