Dry Cleaning / Washing RequirementsDry cleaning and washing services will be required for the Police Department, Fire Departmentand City Court personnel. There are an estimated 135 uniformed Police Department employees requiring uniform cleanings of approximately 4 cleanings a week with an estimate of 27,000 uniforms cleaned in a 12-month period. This equals approximately 75 uniforms per day. The Fire Department has an estimated 30 uniforms per week with an estimate of 1500 shirts/pants per year and 50 jackets per year. The Courts has an estimated 250 shirts/pants per year. The estimated quantities that will be required during the initial term of this Contract are indicated on the Bid Forms contained herein.Several items may be either dry cleaned or machine washed. Successful bidder(s) shall either machine wash or dry clean items per the employee’s request. Uniforms that are to be dry cleaned will have a military press. The cleaning process used shall be an industry accepted perchloroethylene process, hydrocarbon process, Tide dry cleaning process, GreenEarth dry cleaning process, or approved alternate. Cleaning shall include pre-treatment of spots and stains as necessary.The City also has items that cannot be dry cleaned. These include all Olympic Brand clothing (polo shirts, pants, shorts, and jackets) and any items with reflective tape or reflective letters. These items shall be machine washed per the instructions on the care label.In case of rejects due to return of unsatisfactorily cleaned uniforms or double creases, etc., Contractor will re-clean at no additional cost to the City. Un-cleanable spots, stains, etc., are exempted.Items dropped off for cleaning must be completed and ready for pick up within 48 hours.Successful bidder(s) will not be required to pick up or deliver clothing.4. UniformsCurrently the City has the following uniforms that need cleaning. Manufacturers are subject to change.
