Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Casa Grande requests Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) for professional engineering services for the design of Thornton Road and Cottonwood lane intersection. This segment of roadway is a designated truck route, providing access to the city’s southwestern industrial area. This intersection is experiencing extreme congestion; westbound traffic on Cottonwood Lane and southbound traffic on Thornton Road commonly see queuing up to a half a mile. Safety is also an issue with the current configuration of the intersection. Crash data from 2017 to 2021 shows a total of 12 crashes involving 25 vehicles with nine injuries within 300 feet of Thornton Road and Cottonwood Lane and a total of 20 crashes involving 38 vehicles with 12 injuries.
