The School Support and Improvement Unit of the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) provides intensive school improvement support for participating districts and schools through the ADE Project Momentum Arizona Growing Educators Achieving Results (GEARS) Framework. This framework is designed to improve learning outcomes for students through the Local Education Agency (LEA) and designated school(s). The GEARS framework and corresponding support are designed to build capacity and knowledge of the essential aspects of improving academic outcomes for students through a comprehensive system of LEA/School based support that ensures effective and sustainable teaching practices, student-centered learning environments, and school-based leadership practices focusing on high standards and outcomes. The ADE will be offering the opportunity for teachers in schools receiving SSIG-Project Momentum grants to participate in virtual collaboration meetings. The virtual collaborative meetings provide an opportunity for professional collaboration and development of knowledge and practices that can impact student achievement in the classroom, in alignment with the Gears of Project Momentum. The Virtual Collaborative Team Leader plays a critical role in facilitating the collaboration and providing coaching and resources to support the participating teachers, as a team and individually.
