Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Navajo County Board of Directors is requesting proposals from Arizona Licensed Doctor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Public Health and Medical Examiner experience/qualifications preferred) to provide Public Health Medical Consultant/Alternative Medical Examiner services for the Navajo County Public Health Services District. 1. Public Health Medical Consultant duties include: A. Developing and evaluating standards of care for medical care throughout the Nursing Department. B. Develop and update standing medical orders for the public health nursing staff. C. Act as the provider of record on all Insurance Contracts. D. Provide medical and epidemiological consultation for routine disease surveillance and investigations into communicable disease outbreaks. E. Provide medical consultation for any animal control issues, particularly rabies. F. Provide medical consultation for vital records. G. Provide medical consultation for public health emergency preparedness. H. Provide medical and public health consultation during public health emergences. I. Act as the provider of record for the Center for Disease Control’s chempack. J. Provide medical consultation for Environmental Health. K. Provide medical consultation for the International Travel Health Clinic. a. Provider of record for the Yellow Fever clinic. b. Serve as Tuberculosis Control medical consultant. 2. Alternative Medical Examiner duties include: A. In consultation with the Health Director, assists in formulating and implementing policy for the operation of the office. B. Works with the Medicolegal Death Investigators on all cases referred to the office. C. Remotely supervises external examinations when indicated. D. Performs record reviews when indicated. E. Directs the Medicolegal Death Investigators to take indicated cases to autopsy. F. Authorizes all cremations within Navajo County.
