• Cooling system inspection/service o Check all belts and adjust, as needed. o Check all hoses and clamps and tighten, as needed. o Replace all coolant hoses with high grade silicone hoses on 1/3rd of the generator inventory every year on an ongoing basis. o Drain, flush system, and replace coolant on 1/3rd of the generator inventory every year on an ongoing basis. o Test antifreeze for proper concentration and DCA levels. o Change coolant filter, if applicable. o Inspect block heater for proper operation. o Pressure test cooling system. • Lubrication system inspection/service o Check oil level. o Change oil and filter annually. o Check unit for oil leaks. • Inspect engine air filter. o Check air filter. o Replace air filter annually. • Engine fuel system. o Replace fuel filters annually. o Check fuel system for leaks and repair as needed. o Replace flexible fuel lines on 1/3rd of the generator inventory every year on an ongoing basis • Engine starting system. o Inspect battery electrolyte level. o Load test the battery utilizing an artificial load bank. o Clean, inspect and tighten battery cables. o Inspect battery charger for proper operation adjust, as needed. • Engine exhaust system o Inspect the exhaust system for proper operation, and deterioration. • Test run generator to test the following (no load) o Test all safety shutdowns for proper operation. o Check governor for proper operation. o Check oil pressure. o Check water pressure. o Check and adjust as needed voltage and frequency settings. • Main alternator inspection o Visually inspect the rotor, stator, exciter, voltage regulator, and related components. o Inspect and test the unit controller for proper operation. o Inspect and test the automatic transfer switch under simulated power failure (with Owner’s knowledge). o Inspect time delays for proper operation. o Inspect the exercise timer for proper operation and settings. o Check system under load for proper operation (with owner’s knowledge). • Perform annual 2-hour load bank testing using an artificial load bank appropriately sized for the generator being tested. (some units are on quarterly load banks) • Annual engine oil sampling and analysis for early detection of engine problems. • Return the unit to automatic operation unless repairs are needed. • Submit a report to the Facilities Supervisor for review, including quotes for necessary repairs.
