The selected engineering firm will be responsible for the following: 1. Dam Inspection o Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the Vortac Lake Dam. o Evaluate the current condition, risk factors, and remaining life expectancy. o Collect geotechnical and hydrological data as necessary. 2. Recommendations Report o Submit a written report recommending either the dismantling or repair of the dam. o Include risk and cost-benefit analyses of both options. o Present findings to City of Kotzebue staff and, if requested, to the City Council. 3. Preliminary Engineering Designs o Provide preliminary design documents and cost estimates for: Dismantling the dam Repairing the dam for continued use 4. Optional Design Phase o If funds remain after preliminary design completion, the firm may be tasked with initiating the full design of the selected alternative, contingent upon City approval.
