Specifications include, but are not limited to: Specifications: a. Provide services for safe patient lifts and transfers for the entire ANMC Campus, with emphasis on the inpatient wards, although the contractor will be available to assist the outpatient clinics as the need arises. Where possible, total body transfers will be conducted using a mechanical lifting device such as the Hoyer Lift or other piece of ergonomic lifting enhancing equipment. However, manual lifting of patients will be frequently required under this contract, including the team lifting of patients who weigh up or exceed 300 pounds. b. Patient safety shall be the highest priority during all contractual services. Patients shall be lifted or transferred in a manner that will not cause injury to the patient and preserves the modesty and dignity of the patient. Lifting team personnel shall be sensitive to the cultural uniqueness of the patients at the Alaska Native Medical Center, and may be required to instruct family members in safe patient handling procedures. c. Contractor personnel shall be required to adhere to ANMCs infection control safe practices, including the use of personal protective equipment such as gloves and respiratory protection. Contractors shall also wash their hands before and after all patient contact and after glove removal. d. Subsequent changes to regulatory ordinances may require modifications to the contract to reflect the standard of care and services required e. Contract services shall consist of a two (2) person service and shall be from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday a two (2)-person team will work from 8:00 am to 4 pm. Observed holidays are Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. f. The Contractor is responsible for providing, annually, a written medical opinion from a qualified physician that contractor employees have no previous or current injuries or limitations that would prevent them from engaging in the patient lifting activities required under this contract. The contractor will provide a thorough medical history and physical evaluation of the strength and flexibility of the contractor employees upon hire
