Specifications include, but are not limited to: a) General Legal: • Provide general legal advice • Provide general business and administration advice • Provide advice on policies and procedures of the Board of Commissioners • Provide advice and interpretation of the law of the state of Alaska and applicable federal law as it applies to CIHA operations • Provide advice and legal opinions regarding Native American law as it applies to CIHA operations • Provide advice and legal opinions regarding HUD (including NAHASDA) and other federal housing laws and regulations as they apply to CIHA operations • Prepare, review, and revise contracts • Represent CIHA in legal disputes and litigation filed on behalf of CIHA b) Employment/Labor Relations: • Provide general advice and legal opinions regarding personnel matters • Provide legal review of personnel disciplinary actions • Provide legal review of employee complaints and grievances • Draft and/or review employee policies • Provide advice regarding compensation and fringe benefit issues, including PERS and ERISA • Provide advice and legal opinions regarding labor standards under state and federal law
