Specifications include, but are not limited to: Body Work. As previously mentioned, during the stripping phase the Contractor is to remove all body filler materials to allow the coach’s sheeting to be assessed. If exterior sheeting if found to be in disrepair or decayed, the ARRC shall provide a sufficient quantity of new 6061 aluminum sheeting for the Contractor to install per the Owner’s direction. After the removal of any sheeting, the Owner and/or its representative shall inspect the underlying substructure for defects and/or damage. Upon completion of any required the sheeting replacement, and after the satisfactory inspection of the entirety of the coach’s sheeting; the Contractor is to prime the surface and then apply new body filler until a ‘smooth’ to ‘smooth rolling’ surface is achieved. When body filler is placed adjacent to seams, it shall be placed in a minimalistic manner to help mitigate cracking. Window Frame Repair. After the removal of the windows, the area around the window shall be sand blasted and then inspected for damage and defects. Any material, or sheeting, found to be either decaying or in disrepair shall be replaced in-kind to the exact dimensions of the opening prior to implementing repairs. After the completion of all painting activities, the windows are to be reinstalled using new rubber gaskets that are to be provided by the Owner. Side Sill Sheeting Repair. Prior to commencing repair work associated with the side sill, the coach must be immobilized via blocking of the trucks. Where it is scheduled to replace a large panel, support the side sill a minimum of every four (4) feet on center and a minimum of four (4) feet beyond the extends of the limits of the panel to be replaced. The opposing side must be supported in a similar fashion to balance the coach and shall be placed in such a manner that minimizes the potential for damage to any part of the coach and for deflection while removing metal from the coach. Prior to the placement of jacks and/or supports on any portion of the car, submit a bracing plan to the Owner for review as the proposed locations must have sufficient strength to carry potential loads and mitigate the potential for differential deflection. Once the side sill sheeting is open, the Contractor shall cut and remove all damaged and/or defective material, as needed, to replace the sheeting up-to the hours indicated above herein. Furthermore, the Contractor is to inspect and document the condition of the inner framing. Said framing shall be sand blasted to facilitate the inspection. Any aluminum or steel members found to be either in disrepair, decayed, or damaged will either be replaced and/or repaired, as required. Prior to affixing the new sheeting with stainless steel screws, all exposed inner framing is to be coated with DIMETCOTE® 302H Reinforced Inorganic Zinc Primer (or approved equal) in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and Appendix B.
