Tank Shell Thickness: If round and outside ring reinforced, to be minimum, ¼-inch. If oval or elliptical, to be minimum ¼-inch thick on upper ½ and minimum 3/8-inch thick on lower ½. Baffles: To include a minimum of four (4) transverse baffles. Baffle minimum thickness: ¼-inch. The bottom of baffles shall include cut-outs to allow a good flow of liquid to the outlet of the tank. As large as possible without compromising integrity. Manhole/Fill cap: Minimum 20-inch diameter. To include a heavy-duty right-side (curbside) mounted ladder. Steps on the ladder to be non-slip type surface, with 4-inches tread depth minimum. Sight Gauge: To include a mechanical calibrated measuring device, located on the rear of the tank; calibrated in 500-gallon increments. Inlet and Outlet Water Piping: Fittings to be welded to reinforced doubler plates. To include two (2) each 8-inch truck flange fittings. To also include a threaded 8-inch female bolted flange. Suction Hose, Hose Troughs, and Strainer: Hose Troughs: Quantity: 2- curbside mounted and fitted to the tank, minimum 26-foot in length (each). To store and include two, 25-foot in length, 6-inch I.D. heavy-duty KANA FLEX 180-AR, both fitted with a CAMLOCK male coupling on one end and a CAMLOCK female coupling on the other end. Suction Strainer: One of the suction hoses is to include a suction strainer that has maximum openings of ¼-inch openings and includes a male CAMLOCK coupling. Shall have an adequate quantity of openings so as not to restrict flow. CHASSIS: Frame to be aluminum or steel, full length. 5th wheel: Two (2) inch diameter kingpin with minimum 3⁄8-inch thick fifth wheel plate. To be bolt-on (welded-on is not acceptable). To provide a minimum 84-inch swing clearance under gooseneck. Approximately 50-inch height. Length: Maximum 43’ 6”, overall. Axles: To have two (2) axles with dual wheels. Capacity: Minimum 25,000 pounds each. To provide for overall width (outside of tire to outside of tire) between 100 and 102 inches. Oil seals to be STEMCO or equivalent, to include sight glass. To include a hub mileage meter on the left rear (street side) axle. Suspension: Shall be air ride type. Capacity: Minimum 50,000 pounds. Brakes: Full air/ABS. S-cam style brake actuation. To include safety break-a-way valve, automatically applying, in the event of line breakage or low air pressure. To include arctic type hoses and diaphragms (plastic tubing is not acceptable). One (1) spare tire and wheel, mounted. Spare Tire Rack: Under tank mounted. Landing Gear: Hand crank, two (2) speed, with sandshoes. Any grease applied to landing gear assembly shall be arctic rated. Fenders: Heavy-gauge, contoured aluminum, braced fenders over the tires. For both truck tractor wheels and trailer wheels. Tractor fenders to provide for an overall width of 102 inches. Mud flaps: For front and rear of trailer axles and rear of front fenders. Heavy-duty rubber, anti-sail. Rear Bumper: To include a heavy-duty step bumper that is approximately 18 to 24 inches above level ground, full width. The bumper system will help protect spray nozzles and piping from damage. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Lighting: Side marker, stop, turn, and tail to be LED, all rubber-mounted, GROTE, or TRUCK-LITE. Strobe Light: To include one WHELEN Model L31 amber strobe light. In addition to the standard 7-pole electrical wiring system, there is also to include a second electrical connection: To be a seven 7-pole POLLACK #11-724 split pin poly/glass socket with a POLLACK #11-761 socket boot; or equivalent. Wiring harness to be run in steel or aluminum conduit from the front to the back of the tank and be sealed. Wiring system to include seven (7) wires (same wires from tractor electrical connection). Wiring to run a minimum of five (5) feet past end of the tank, secured, for use by the State. Wiring, general information: Must be located for maximum protection from snow and ice buildup, grease, oil, fuel, and heat. Routing through structural members to be protected by grommets. To be secured by clips at intervals to prevent rubbing or chafing due to movement. All applicable junction boxes, light housings, etc. to be waterproof and constructed of corrosion-proof material. All connectors to be corrosion resistant and waterproof. All connectors in the frame area, or otherwise exposed to road grime, must be sealed with dielectric grease. The back of connectors must be sealed with silicone or protective wrapping. Spade, SCOTCHLOK, and bullet type connectors are not acceptable.
