The Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission DBA U.S. Space & Rocket Center seeks sealed bids for Museum Facility Window Tinting in the following areas.

Simulation Zone
Main Giftshop
Planetarium

Museum interior location specifications for the three (3) areas specified above are as follows.
Simulation Zone: Requesting window film that will reduce heating and cooling costs and reduce glare into the space while retaining the ability for the outside visitors to look in. Sim Zone area consists of 31 windowpanes and 2 pedestrian doors. 6 windows at 53”X76”, 18 windows at 53”x39”, 1 window at 44”x76”, 3 windows at 44”x39”, 3 windows at 74”x39”, and 2 doors at 31”x76”. The estimated total square footage of the area to be addressed is 578sqft.

Main Giftshop: Requesting window film that will reduce heating and cooling costs and reduce glare into the space while retaining the ability for the outside visitors to look in. Giftshop area consists of a total of 246 wall windowpanes, 80 entry windowpanes, and 8 glass pedestrian doors. The estimated total square footage of the area to be addressed is 2,811sqft.

Planetarium: Requesting window film that will reduce the heating and cooling costs and significantly darken the interior space. An exterior mirror look would be ok as long as it was able to increase interior darkness. The Planetarium area consists of a total of 140 windowpanes. 14 windows at 32.75”x15”, 14 windows at 33.5”x15”, 28 windows at 38”x15”, 14 windows at 38.5”x15”, 21 windows at 38.75”x15”, and 49 windows at 39”x15”. The estimated total square footage of the area to be addressed is 548sqft.

There will be a Mandatory Pre-Bid meeting held on Tuesday, April 16th, 2:00pm CST at the U.S. Space and Rocket Centers Administration Entrance, One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL 35805. At which time all bidders will be provided ample time to review the work area and make accurate measurements of the area to be quoted. The volumes and measurements listed above are only an estimate. Each bidder is responsible to obtain actual measurements to calculate the square footage of the identified workspace.

Additional Bidding Instructions

Sealed Bids must be submitted on vendors official letter head. Additional required documentation includes Certificate of Insurance, E-Verify Memo of Understanding, AL Contractors License, AL Vendor Disclosure Statement, and Company W9 form. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner’s judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.

Sealed proposals will be received by the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission d/b/a U.S. Space and Rocket Center at the office of Sam Mitchell, Director of Procurement, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, at the ETF Building Room #109, One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, Al 35805 until Tuesday April 29th, 2024, at 2:00pm CST. At which time and place, each seal bid will be publicly opened and read into the record.
You may also submit your seal bid prior to public bid opening to the Director of Procurement, for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, by using a reliable & trackable delivery method or by coming in person to the Administration Entrance located at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, Al 35805
