Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Unwed Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Program provides services statewide to prevent unwed teen pregnancies. Prevention occurs through public awareness, education/training, technical assistance and advocacy. The goal of the program is to prevent out-of-wedlock pregnancies among adolescents/youth age 10- 20 years who reside in Alabama. Preventing unwed teen pregnancy improves the well-being of children, families, and communities. Efforts to prevent unwed teen pregnancy and subsequent pregnancies must integrate various strategies. Proposed services must incorporate a broad spectrum of approaches to include promotion of public awareness; assistance to local and statewide efforts via training on successful, science-based prevention efforts as well as evidence-based approaches that contribute to healthy behavior and thereby prevention of teen pregnancy.
