a. The Contractor shall prepare, prime and paint items listed in the Pricing Format - Base Quote as selected by Huntsville Utilities Personnel. b. Note: The equipment will be operational and located in the field on private property or on city right-of-ways. Since the equipment is operational, extreme care must be taken to not damage the equipment. Ladders shall not be placed against the equipment. Damage to equipment could cause injury or possible death. Care should be taken to not damage customer’s property with painting equipment, processes or paint. c. Contractor shall provide all materials as necessary to complete the work, including primer and paint. OWNER will provide decals for placements on transformers. d. All work shall be carried out in accordance with the specifications of the supplied paint. e. Primer and Paint shall be applied by brush or roller. Spraying is not allowed. f. Prior to commencing work, Contractor shall photograph item to be painted with special attention to be paid to any existing damage or stickers and stenciling to be reapplied after painting. g. Vegetation that might interfere with paint application or damage wet paint shall be trimmed. h. A drape cloth shall be used around all items to be painted to collect debris and paint spills. i. All existing stickers are to be removed by mechanical means prior to other surface preparation. j. Soluble contaminates shall be removed per SSPC-SP1. k. Loose scale, loose paint, rust and other detrimental foreign matter shall be removed per SSPC-SP2 or SP3. Fiberglass surfaces are to be hand scraped only. l. Smooth, hard or glossy coating shall be dulled by abrading the surface. m. One (1) coat of Primer shall be applied to all bare metal surfaces per manufactures’ recommendations. n. Two (2) coats of Paint to closely match existing color shall be applied uniformly to all surfaces per manufactures recommendations.
