This project proposes to start Phase II work on Flying Creek Nature Preserve, a 72-acre City-owned outdoor recreation and education facility bound by Veterans Drive on the south, US Highway 98 on the east, Fly Creek on the north, and Scenic Highway 98 (Main Street) on the west. Phase I is currently taking place under a separate GOMESA grant to include: multiuse trails, parking (including handicapped), restroom with covered porch to provide protection during inclement weather, informational kiosk, bike repair apparatus, and an outdoor classroom. Phase II will be performed under a new GOMESA grant and for the completion of the Master Plan for the 72-acre parcel to include: an additional 1.5 miles of multiuse trails, more outdoor classrooms, observation decks, outdoor pavilion, canoe/kayak launch, educational signage, and bird blind.
