DIMENSIONS: Overall asphalt area: 270’ X 130’ SLOPE: The slope of the courts shall be a minimum of 1" in 10' (.833%) and a maximum of 1% (end-toend or side-to-side, all in one plane). SUBGRADE (to be prepared by others): The subgrade specs will be put out by the City of Opelika Engineering department. The specs will be followed by the grading contractor and monitored by the City of Opelika Engineering Department. The specs will be prepared in accordance with local building techniques to provide a stable, well-drained pad for the new pickleball courts. The prepared subgrade shall be of ALDOT A-4 material or better and free of organic or non-compactable material. The top 6" shall be compacted to 95% proctor density or a proof roll with a loaded tandem axle truck witnessed by the City of Opelika Engineering department and project contractor. If necessary, a satisfactory weed killer shall be used to kill all vegetation. The final tolerance in the subgrade shall be ½” when measured in any direction. This quote shall include turnkey pricing on delivery and installation, meeting all specs: BASE, ASPHALT, FENCING, NETS, POSTS, RESURFACER, COLORED PLAY SURFACING, and LINES. The Parks and Recreation department will contact the bid winner about the actual date work can begin. Please quote only if your schedule allows you to start within a reasonable time frame. QUOTE: Should include a price for the project using an asphalt mix with a “VIRGIN MIX” consisting of clean aggregate and not containing RAP, recycled shingles, or other foreign materials that can create problems in the finished surface. BASE: A 3" crushed aggregate base (825B) will be installed by others on the prepared subgrade and graded to slope and depth of + or – ½”. The winning bidder will install another 3” crushed aggregate base (825B) on the previous layer. The final layer of stone shall be installed with laser-controlled equipment and thoroughly compacted with a steel wheel tandem roller. The final tolerance in the base shall be ¼” when measured in any direction. (NOTE: The stone base shall be installed in two (2) separate 3” layers. The first layer will be installed after the subgrade preparation by a previous contract. The second layer of the base shall be compacted to 100% proctor density.
