The inability to effectively communicate verbally and/or through written language constitutes a problem for many who may be in need of departmental services, but who are limited or non-English speaking. Therefore, Department is seeking a qualified Vendor(s) to provide interpreter/translator services in the Mt. Meigs Complex/ LB Wallace School, J. Walter Wood, Jr. Campus, Vacca Campus/McNeel School, and Autauga Campus/LB Wallace Annex IV. These services are necessary to ensure equal access to departmental programs and services for all eligible persons, including those who may not be proficient in the spoken or written English language. Interpreter/Translator services are being sought at a minimum for the following languages: Spanish, Guatemalan (various dialects), Mixtecan, Romanian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean. Services must be delivered face-to-face, written, and/or via telephone/computer. Interpreters/Translators may be involved in highly emotionally charged and volatile situations. The identity of the youth must remain confidential. The information/materials to be interpreted may also be sensitive and confidential. Therefore; the selected Vendor(s) must enforce a strict policy of confidentiality Interpreters/Translators must be qualified, possess a high degree of professionalism and provide accurate interpretations without interjecting their own biases. Interpreters/Translators must be fluent in the English language, as well as, the languages to be interpreted and must have the ability to be easily understood when translating from one language to another.
