Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Operator(s) to construct the trails shown using a Sweco trail dozer (or equivalent), hand built and/or mini excavator machine built, natural surface, single track mountain bike trail (approximately 4’ width). The primary trail tread and any required turning platforms or in slope turns shall be subsidiary to the linear foot trail construction unit price. Any required rock armoring within the trail tread due to site conditions (soil conditions, surface drainage, ground water / seeps, etc.) shall be subsidiary to the trail construction scope and include in the unit price per linear foot of trail. Stabilization at the inlet and outlet areas of any installed drainage pipe using rock shall be subsidiary obligation of the trail construction unit price and paid by the linear foot of trail constructed. Per Section 1020, the installation any required drainage pipes shall be the responsibility of the contractor as subsidiary obligation of the trail construction unit price per linear foot and shall not be paid separately. Pipe materials required shall be provided to the contractor by the County and shall be delivered to the site trailhead area. Transport of the required pipe from the trailhead area to the project site location on the trail shall be the responsibility of the contractor. • The Rock Features pay item shall be paid by the square foot of area measured in place on the project site. These areas shall be identified as part of the final design and approved by the County before construction. These locations shall be outside of the trail tread and include areas to provide additional technical features adjacent to the primary trail tread. Locations for rock features shall also include required retaining walls or slope protection adjacent to the trail tread to provide vertical support of the tread area or turning platforms. If compacted fill is required on top of the rock feature area it is required for these areas to be inspected and measured for payment by the County prior to placement of fill. • Tree removal will require preliminary marking and approval from the County. • The preliminary design layout is shown on the project drawings – Trail Layout with aerial overlay and Trail Layout with aerial overlay and topo. • The layout map shows the approximate location of the proposed trails. The final design and layout provided by the contractor will determine the exact location of the trail tread, location of required drainage structures and location and layout of any required rock features. The final design and layout is subsidiary obligation of the trail construction unit price. • The trail shall be constructed after final design is submitted, flagged in the field by the contractor, reviewed and approved by the County. Deviations other than implementation of sustainable trail features must be approved by the County. • Contractor shall pressure wash off site any equipment including trailers that delivered from another area to remove exotic plants and plant parts that may be attached to a piece of equipment.
