Specifications include, but are not limited to: The District is requesting proposals from qualified vendors to provide a Comprehensive Research-Based Reading Language Arts Intervention program, grades 6-12, addressing the needs of students who struggle in the area of reading. The goal is for the reading language arts intervention program to improve struggling students' reading achievement and improve high stakes test scores, particularly in reading. The program must have several options for learning, including teacher-led, whole group/small group instruction and a web-based curriculum that has the capacity to individualize reading and writing instruction. The program must reach each student at his/her Lexile/Reading level, must be aligned to state standards, involve high level of student motivation and increase student independence. The program must have explicit instruction in the areas of: vocabulary, reading comprehension, spelling and writing. Both fiction and non-fiction literature must be included as resources for students and teachers;
