Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division (WFF) is seeking bids to establish a vendor for survey research services. The selected vendor will design, conduct, analyze, and report the results of research to identify migration routes and habitat requirements and/or threats of golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos ) that winter in Alabama. Prior to a camera trapping (2012 - present) and the telemetry project (2013 - present), there was little information on the distribution and habitat preferences of golden eagles in Alabama. Data now suggests that Alabama is an important overwintering site for golden eagles. We have accumulated a large, complex dataset of camera trap images and telemetry data that has received only a cursory analysis. Knowing information about winter habitat use and migration pathways can help evaluate potential impacts of wind energy development and other land use or management activities on the eastern population of golden eagles.
