The Alabama Public Charter School Commission (APCSC) is issuing a request for proposal for a qualified individual to work with the Executive Director for the APCSC to address matters that will appear before the Alabama State Legislature, individual state legislators, The Alabama State Governor, local and county government, and other state agencies. The Alabama Public Charter School Commission (APCSC) is undergoing rebuilding as it transitions to a fully independent state agency. Its goal is to increase its own capacity to increase and advocate for quality charter schools. The APCSC Public Affairs firm or individual will assist in the strategic plan in conjunction with the Commission, pursue strategic legislative and policy changes and protect existing supportive policies that will strengthen charter schools in Alabama, and support the growth and influence of APCSC. The APCSC is interested in consultants or individuals with expertise and experience. Please include the number of years of experience in this role and the number of years leading and managing others on education, policy, campaign organizing, or advocacy. Knowledge of charter school landscape and local connection to education and relationships in the Alabama charter sector and evidence of motivating a diverse group of stakeholders to action by building strong internal and external relationships will be considered a plus. The public affairs firm or individual(s) must provide evidence of perseverance in achieving policy and advocacy change in a challenging, complex political environment as well as an understanding of education policy and how it informs organizational positions and stances. Include any past experience working with 501(c)(3) organizations. The contract will be awarded to the prospective possible vendor who best meets the specifications herein, exhibits an established history of providing this type of technical experience in a satisfactory manner through specific references and proposes the services at a reasonable price. Evidence should include examples of the ability to plan, organize, execute, and evaluate projects where success is measured.
