The City of Huntsville Parking and Public Transit Department provides the City of Huntsville citizens with Paratransit services. This service is a reservation, door-to-door public transportation service for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. All participants book trips through the City of Huntsville Parking and Public Transit office located at 500B Church Street, Huntsville, AL 35763. The City of Huntsville Parking and Public Transit currently operate 24 paratransit buses, with an expectation to grow our fleet by two to three vehicles a year.
The City of Huntsville Parking and Public Transit Department also has an agreement with the City of Madison to handle their dispatch services for their paratransit department. The City of Madison currently operates 4 vehicles. The City of Madison’s information would need to be maintained separately in the system.
The City of Huntsville Parking & Public Transit Department requests qualified firms to submit sealed proposals for the purchase and installation of Paratransit Reservation/Scheduling Software. The Paratransit Reservation/Scheduling Software should include, at a minimum, a Windows-based system with the capabilities for public transportation trip reservations, scheduling and dispatch, and reporting. The system should also include the ability to reduce paperwork (trip manifests, no-show/cancelation reports), reduce duplication of data entry, visibility of vehicle locations (AVL/GPS), trip status, the ability to integrate with Token Transit for fare purchases and compliance with all American with Disabilities Act Regulations and all other regulations for other funding sources, including but not limited to PHI and HIPPA.
