Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Urania Toroidal Field (TF) Bundle will comprise the center conductors of a 24 turn toroidal field electromagnet set used in the Urania Experiment located in the UW-Madison Engineering Physics Department. Urania is a magnetic confinement facility funded by the DOE to do fusion research. The experiments are done in a stainless steel vacuum chamber with several interlocking electromagnetic field coil sets. The Urania TF Bundle (see drawing 1) will consist of 24 copper conducting bars of wedge-shaped cross section. Each conductor will have cooling stubs brazed into both ends. These conductor/tube assemblies will be silver plated, insulated, assembled around an insulated central tube, overwrapped with B-stage glass tape, and cured to form the bundle. The cured bundle will have the ends encapsulated to bring it to its final over-all length. There will be 24 openings around the bundle near both ends (48 total), through the insulation to provide electrical contact areas.
