Currently, the County employs approximately 600 individuals in a wide range of positions with incumbents performing a wide range of services, including: maintaining highways, providing public safety services, operating parks, and administering a wide variety of programs and services for County citizens. This project focuses on the administrative functions affecting the staff in all of these occupations. Currently, the County relies heavily on a series of homegrown applications developed on an AS400 platform to manage information related to administrative functions. As the County has used this platform for more than fifteen years, a high degree of specialization and customization has evolved, culminating in over 50 separate AS400 modules. These include modules for budget entry, chart of accounts maintenance, voucher processing, journal entry processing, cash receipting, and payroll management. Individual departments often have their own versions of these modules. For example, several departments have customized receipting and payroll modules.
