Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City seeks qualified proposals from vendors (“Proposer”) for Monorail trail floor refurbishment services (the “Work”), which includes replacement of Monorail train flooring, floor hatches, bogie covers, intercar plates, and trim in both Monorail trains at the Seattle Center Station. Each train consists of 4 cars, each approximately 30 feet in length and 10 feet wide. Proposers shall propose a flooring system that is robust, ADA compliant, aesthetically pleasing, heated, non-slip, wear and weather resistant, and similar in weight and thickness to the original floor design. The flooring shall comply with NFPA 130 requirements and utilize materials that meet ASTM E662, ASTM E648, ASTM E119 for smoke, flame, and toxicity. The current floors are a transit vinyl adhered to plymetal, which is riveted to a corrugated aluminum sheet; the existing vinyl and plymetal will be replaced with new elements, but the corrugated aluminum will remain. Removal of the flooring will require removal and reinstallation of the train seats and grab bars. The floors were last replaced in the early 2000s. This will be awarded on a best value basis as a lump sum contract, with the successful Proposer (“Vendor”) providing shop drawings, materials and installation for the project. Work will be done in three phases: Phase 1: Build and test a prototype set of intercar plates, Phase 2: Install new flooring and intercar plates in the first train, Phase 3: Install new flooring and intercar plates in the second train. Phase 1 will be done in the Spring of 2020 and Phases 2 and 3 will take place in Autumn 2020. The Work is expected to be fully completed by December 2020.
