Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1) Mortuary costs consisting of Transportation, storage and due diligence: Transporting of human remains by responding promptly with the appropriate staff, vehicle, and equipment to a scene, facility, or other designated place to collect and transport the decedent to the PCMEO or funeral home cold storage facility, as directed at the time of the call by the PCMEO. Cases designated to be stored at the funeral home will normally consist of only preliminarily unclaimed persons who will be stored for a 10-day period. Most other cases will be transported directly to the PCMEO facility for storage. The preferred funeral home will assist the PCMEO investigative staff in exercising due diligence (making a “good faith effort”) in searching RFP No. 19-122 FUNERAL HOME SERVICES Page 4 of 12 for family of an unclaimed decedent and determining indigence. The preferred funeral home will work directly with the next-of-kin should they be located. 2) Cremation and return of cremated remains: Cremating indigent and unclaimed decedents, as authorized and directed by the PCMEO. Returning the cremated remains to the PCMEO, along with any personal property received with the decedent
