Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. ENGINE - Generator Check for leaks, engine oil level and pressure. Top off engine oil as needed up to 6 quarts Check hydraulic/mechanical governor oil level. Top off hydraulic/mechanical governor oil as needed. Check hydraulic/mechanical governor oil quality, replace if bad. Check full flow filter and by-pass filter. Replace if needed. b. ENGINE – Electrical System: Check battery – charging system. Check engine safety controls and all wiring. Check battery connections and terminals. Clean and remove corrosion. Check engine starting motor cranking current and spark plugs. c. ENGINE – Cooling System: Check for leaks. Check for radiator air restriction. Check operation of coolant heater. Check hoses and connections. Tighten if needed. If any Hoses are found to be deteriorated or damaged they shall be changed at the time of service. Check coolant level and temperature. Top off as needed. Check belt condition and tension. Adjust if needed. If belts are found to be deteriorated or damaged they MUST be changed at the time of service. Check motor operated louvers. Check radiator duct work and fan shroud. Check fan hub, drive pulley and water pump. Check thermostat and radiator cap. Check Fan Bearing and Lubricant Check Sending Unit d. ENGINE – Fuel System: Check for leaks. Check governor control linkage. Check fuel line and connections for leaks. Check flexible hoses. Tighten if needed. If any Hoses are found to be deteriorated or damaged they shall be changed at the time of service. Drain sediment from day tank if valve readily available. Drain water separators and LPG oil traps. Check day tank fuel level and notify VDOT if below 50%. Check fuel transfer pump. Check diesel engine primer pump. Check fuel injection pump and injection timing. Check shut-off valve Clean Primary Fuel filter (if screen type) e. ENGINE – Air Intake System: Check for leaks. Check air cleaner restriction. Check all piping connections. Clean air cleaner element and housing
