Specifications include, but are not limited to: replacement of up to nine (9) class II private aids to Navigation in the James River. Each private aid to navigation will consist of one 50-foot wooden pile driven to refusal or to a depth so that a minimum of 8 feet of pile is visible above mean high water (MHW). If piles are driven to refusal and more than 8 feet of pile is visible above MHW, the pile shall be cut at 8 feet above MHW. Signage will be supplied by VMRC staff and installed by VMRC staff upon acceptance of work. The contractor must be able to work in a depth of 4 feet mean low water (MLW) and have performed similar work in the past.
